WHO DO YOU WANT TO BE TODAY?

Today’s a market day, which means I go over to the Mishawaka riverfront at 7:30am and set up the YBD pop-up shop. And then, from 10am to 2pm… I wait. I wait in my little Universe of True Love for the market passers-by to notice me, and hopefully, to come in and take a little piece of the Universe home for themselves. Now, I’m a spiritual sort of person who believes in woo-woo things like the kind of energy I project will draw like-minded energy to me. But that leaves the question of, who do I want to be today? Some weeks, it’s all I can do to sit peacefully in my pop-up shop and not go down the rabbit hole of doom by imagining that nobody will ever like my postcards, or somesuch nonsense. Other weeks, I have been a little too eager, and probably alienated some shoppers with my sickening desperate energy. But today? Today I want to do, and to be, something different. Today I want to be nothing more intense or impressive than a gentle ocean wave, lapping peacefully at the shore. I don’t interfere with the people strolling along the sand, and I don’t escalate to anything resembling a crashing surf. I just do what I do, calmly and steadily, and trust that some people will enjoy the feeling they get when their bare feet sink into what I’ve created, here. Maybe I’ll even put on some seashore sounds, to get myself in the mood. — ❤️‍🔥 Y.B.D.
