I can’t intelligently comment on the issue of religious faith, because I have no institutionalized religion, or religious education, behind my personal experience. But what I do know something about is faith in love, pure and simple. As a matter of fact, I have a God, and it is a God of True Love. So let me tell you a little about how faith in True Love works for me. It means I believe that True Love always prevails over any worst-case scenario I imagine. It means I have a deep and unconditional sense of security inside, knowing that literally everything is going to be okay. Better than okay, actually: it’s going to be good! (Some might even say perfect, but I don’t want to trigger any recovering perfectionists out there, myself included.) Having faith in True Love means that I believe that love is a force that’s even more real, omnipresent, and universal than gravity or relativity. But along with that belief in the realness of True Love comes my responsibility to live accordingly, just like any other set of natural laws insist I do (or else). Like, I can’t say I have faith in True Love, then go about my business acting like a lousy, sarcastic pessimist with an outlook of doom and hopelessness. Rather, having faith in True Love is a little like having a trusted and valued friend whom I love and take care of, to the best of my abilities. I root for True Love, I support True Love, I take time to enjoy being with True Love, I ask True Love for help as needed, and I honor True Love with the gift of an honest and beautiful relationship with me. As long as I make the effort to put True Love on my side, everything really is going to be okay — better than okay. Actually, having True Love in your life has made my life astronomically better, the same way being in love changes your outlook on pretty much everything around you. Just make sure to tell True Love thank you when you are sufficiently convinced of its goodness — it really, really loves that. ❤️‍🔥— Y.B.D.
