There is another postcard I made awhile back where the text read, my worst habit is denying myself unnecessarily. So that’s basically the context behind this newer, treat yo’self card. It is my personal opinion that many of us good and well-meaning people are walking around all day in a more or less constant state of denial and deprivation. Sure, we may “treat” ourselves to the low-hanging fruits of the treat world — things like a greasy fast-food meal, or the latest iPhone, when there was nothing techincally wrong with our old one. But this is not nearly the sense of treat yo’self that I am getting at here. For some authentic inspiration, just look at our fine postcard model, an ‘80s incarnation of the English actor Rupert Everett. He’s looking deeply serious and eminently confident in his pose, gazing out at the world through Terminator-worthy shades, his arms wrapped lovingly and protectively around himself. This is the true meaning and spirit of treat yo’self. Treat yourself with love, with compassion, and with the utmost in self-respect and confidence in your beauty and your gifts. Don’t you dare deny yourself one little bit of the enjoyment that will naturally be yours when you are at peace with who you are. Treat yo’self with love, early and often, and don’t hold back on extending that love and admiration for others, too. When you do, I hope you’ll find that your inner experience of life becomes a palm tree-lined, sunset-worthy paradise. ❤️‍🔥—Y.B.D.
