Let me tell you all about the pretty girl in this particular postcard, the text of which I liked so much, I made two versions of it. In the version which is not this version, the pretty girl is very pretty, but she is also very jaded, which you can tell by her heavy, dark eye makeup; by the sad, wistful way she is looking away from the camera; and even by her fancy clothes, which are very nice and fancy, but also not really hers, if you know what I mean. So in contrast to that pretty (but sad) girl seeking a nice guy, we have this pretty girl β€” the fabulous β€˜80s model Nancy Donahue, whom you might recognize by her appearance in a good number of Your Burning Desire postcards. This pretty girl is looking directly into the camera with a little smile on her face, which lets you know she is both confident and happy with herself, even somewhat bold. She is wearing all white, which conveys a message of integrity, if not exactly purity. I like to think that this pretty girl is unabashed in her hope and faith that all the good she puts out into the world is going to come back and be of some enjoyment to her, too, because that is naturally the way things tend to go. This pretty girl’s clothes, as well as her pose, seem to me to be comfortable β€” like, this is a girl who refuses to squeeze or contort herself into anything or anyone who doesn’t feel truly right for her. Finally, in the background of this pretty girl, we see a perfectly used and well-loved set of watercolor paints. It’s a demonstration, perhaps, of the fact that this pretty girl is proudly artistic and creative. She might even be the kind of pretty girl who wouldn’t mind spilling a bit of paint on her lovely white outfit, so long as she was enjoying herself in the process. Even better (though not strictly necessary) would be if she had a nice, lovable guy to paint and create alongside her. ❀️‍πŸ”₯β€”Y.B.D.
