I don’t know what I was thinking when I made this card, because an ottoman is actually not the kind of furniture you could really settle into. Rather, an ottoman is just a glorified foot rest that might, I suppose, be roomy enough for two sets of feet, instead of just one. So let’s go with that image, shall we? Imagine, if you will, someone who invites you to sit back, relax, and kick up your collective feet with them. This wouldn’t be one of those stuffy kinds of relationships, where you’ve got to pretend to enjoy yourself, because deep down you’re so dang uncomfortable about having to talk a certain way, or look a certain way, or carry yourself a certain way in order for the other person to like you and accept you. No, I imagine that being invited to settle into someone’s plush velvet ottoman of True Love would mean something quite different from having to pretend anything! It’s an invitation to be perfectly comfortable being yourself, with that person. You could even wear sweatpants and slippers for the occasion, to maximize the comfort factor. After all, we all want to be accepted, to be understood, to be acknowledged, and to be loved for exactly who we truly are — stinky feet and all. ❤️‍🔥—Y.B.D.
