I hope you see equal parts humor and beauty in this card like I do. Although I admit, I didn’t see the humor until after the glue was dry, and I stepped back and saw the image for what it was. Let’s enjoy being in love is, of course, a very sweet and tender thing to say to the object of your affection, who presumably feels the same lovey-dovey way about you. And yet, I can think of at least one relationship in which my then-boyfriend would have rather died than display any crumbs of overt affection towards me, let alone acknowledge that we were crazy about each other, or that he wanted to savor the moments we shared. At the time, I was too confused and hurt to really object to his determination to not enjoy being in love, but this card reminds me that there was something I could have done, indeed: I could have simply strong-armed him into loving submission! The way our vintage Chanel perfume model has her arm hooked around her paramour’s shoulders could certainly be seen as a spontaneous embrace — or, perhaps, a blatant headlock, depending how you look at it. I admire her hearty appetite for love, and her physically lustful approach to forcing her man to get on the same loving page.
