Hi, Pretty. I don’t know much about you except that you’re pretty… and you seem so sad. I guess it would be too easy to assume that pretty people don’t have problems, right? And yet, you look like you’ve got the weight of the world on your shoulders. I wish I knew you well enough so I could put my arm around those shoulders, and stroll with you through that dinky little Japanese garden in Mishawaka. We could pretend we’re in Paris at the Jardin du Luxembourg! We could even pretend we’re 19 again, and we’ve got our whole lives ahead of us, as yet unblemished by bad decisions. But that’s the thing, Princess… we are where we are now, and that’s enough. Believe it or not, as a pretty person inside and out, you have the power to start over in life, at any point you choose. And maybe, just maybe, you could let me help you. Because there’s always the possibility that we could become great friends (even though you claim you don’t have any). It’s possible that having me to talk to would make you less sad — or at least, able to start laughing at your problems, instead of living in constant fear of them. I mean, I don’t want to brag, but I’m a smart and funny kind of person. Maybe even the kind of person you could see yourself spending a lot of time with. Not because I was pressuring you, but because you realized you don’t deserve to isolate yourself into oblivion anymore. Not because I was love-bombing you, either, but because you saw something in me that you genuinely wanted to get closer to. Now, full disclosure: I’ve been known to feel sad, at times, myself. And I’m not a perfect person by any means. But I do know there’s room in my heart for one more lonely soul. Please, let me know if you want me to save you that seat. ❤️‍🔥—Y.B.D.
