I know you don’t know me yet, but I certainly want to know you. I’ve been noticing you, and there’s a few things about you that I’d like to get up close to take a better look at — maybe even stick around to admire indefinitely. For one thing, I love your beautiful face. It’s so expressive! Every time you raise your eyebrows in surprise, or wrinkle your nose to show disgust, or — my absolute favorite — when your smile breaks the clouds and beams like golden sunshine, I can feel a jolt of life energy lighting me up from within. That smile doesn’t happen very often, does it? But I don’t think its scarcity is what makes your smile so divine. It’s the fact that that its warmth seems to come directly from your spirit. I see the sadness in you, yes. I even feel the weight of your worries when I see how your shoulders slump, and how you cast your eyes down at the floor when you walk. I don’t know who or what made you so sad, my love, but if you were mine I’d put my arms around you and hug you silly, until you felt that spirit-warmth coursing through your body again. And I wouldn’t even force you to hug me back, or to make a show of gratitude, or fake any other sort of loving emotion. With me, you would find no need for masks or overheated performances. Because True Love isn’t an act, and it isn’t some show pony to be trotted out when you need an extra buck (or even, a fuck). True Love is what happens when you allow yourself and others to be exactly what they are, without attempts at refinement. Maybe someday, you’ll come to trust True Love, and allow yourself to simply be. But if you ever need someone to hold you warmly, just as you are? Well, for you, I am one hundred percent available. ❤️🔥— Y.B.D.
